Government has proposed a modification of the

emoluments originally recommended by the

Commission for lower grade monthly paid staff,

order to reflect these changes. This modification

is now under consideration by the Secretary of State.

The Secretary of State has agreed that, subject to

circumstances and the allowance discontinued as

be made not later than 1st July, 1948, and thereafter

at quarterly intervals until suitable permanent

machinery for adjustment can be set up.

effective as from 1st January, 1947, the date
